Our History

This school was established on 25th October, 1963 through the resilient efforts of Pastor C. B. Mensah, (the then Ghana Mission President), Nana Kwame Boakye I, (Omanhene of Agona Traditional Area), Mr. Martin Kyeremateng, (a native of Agona).  The institution started as a Teacher Training College  and its first admission comprised eighty (80) students; sixty (60) boys and twenty (20) girls. It had a total of five (5) staff members.

However, it was converted into a secondary school on October 5th 1972. Mr. L.H. Berlin, a white man was the first Principal of the training college Mr. I. K. Ansong became the Headmaster of the secondary school. The secondary school initial intake was thirty-eight (38) students. The institution has had eleven (11) heads since its establishment with the current being Mrs. Alice Opoku Adjei.

The school operated concurrently at both the old and the new sites for several years. On 1st September, 2011, AGASS was moved finally to the new site because, it had an appreciable level of infrastructure that could accommodate all students.

At its establishment, a few blocks were provided for through the collaboration between the church and the community at a site made available by Nana Kwame Boakye I. This school was confronted with the challenge of accommodation because of its population swell (staff and students).

In 1968, a one mile square plot of land was released by the then   Omanhene, Nana Kwame Boakye II for onward construction of additional infrastructure to augment existing ones at the old site.

The first Principal of the training college was a white man, Mr. Berlin whilst the first Headmaster of the secondary school was Mr. I.K. Ansong of blessed memory. The following are the lists of past and present headmasters and/or principals:
